Immortality [continued]

Katrien stepped off the plane and stretched. She hated flying, but it was faster than even she could run. It was also a much more practical choice when it came to crossing large bodies of water such as the English Channel. . .
. . .It took ridiculously long for Katy to fight her way through the large airport and out onto the highway. Driving wasn't really something she enjoyed much either, so she chose to run all the way to the remnants of the Eiffel Tower to wait for Vance. It occurred to her as she leaned against the destroyed monument that she hadn't actually specified the Eiffel Tower to Vance and he therefore probably had no idea where she was. . .

"Hey there!"Vance yelled to Katy. He jumped off of a cross beam of the tower and landed in front of her. "Well I see your on time, hows it going?"

Katy nearly had a heart attack when Vance jumped down beside her. And considering the fact that her heart doesn't even beat, that's saying something.
"Hi. And I'm fine. Just almost died a second time, is all. And yourself?" she said.

"Yeah well I didn't mean to get scared." Katy said with a smile. "It's fine though."
The vampiress then leaned away from the tower and started walking slowly down the wide path leading out of the park. She didn't check to see if Vance was following, only assumed he was.

"Just for a walk. This used to be a really beautiful city, you know." Katy said, looking ahead of them at the crowds of people as she did so.
"Did you ever come here before the war?"

He looked off to the side, his face shadowed, then looked forward again. "I was... never really allowed to travel the world. Since I was taken after birth for testing, I never saw the outside world much..."

"Oh. . .That's too bad." was all Katy could think to say. She never really knew how to respond when people started getting reminiscent and sad about unknown things.

Katrien thought briefly about his question before answering.
"Well I first came here back in 1845. I'd been in America and things weren't quite so wonderful there anymore. I remember I used to want to travel the world when I was a human, and Paris had been first on my list of places to go. So since a change of scenery was in need and I'd always wanted to go to Paris anyway, I just went." she smiled as she said this. "I fell in love instantly."

"It sounds really amazing. I would have loved to have been her before the war. I did get to spend about 3 weeks in England, during my transfer from Russia to America. I was too young to remember much though."

"I've never been to Russia, though. Do you remember much about it?"

"Ya. It was cold." He laughed. "But there was always a lot of snow, it was really nice. After I escaped, I went back there to visit. It wasn't much of a homecoming, but it was still wonderful." He smiled to himself.
