Just outside the historic city of London, Katrien was standing on the front porch of a rather large house and waiting to be let in. It was amazing how long she would sometimes have to wait there before the door would get opened. She rarely ever showed up here unannounced, so she never understood why her blood parents couldn't get to the door faster. But then again, this was a rare unannounced visit.
Finally the door opened. Katy looked up at her father and smiled as best she could.
"Katy! What are you doing here?" Levin asked, his eyes a rich black. She knew this meant he was in a good mood, so she told him the truth.
"I wanted to talk to you about something." she said. Lev nodded and stepped aside so that she could enter. Katy entered the manor house swiftly and went immediately to sit on the drawing room sofa. Levin came in only a few seconds later and took a seat in a rather large armchair across from her.
"What do you need to speak to me about?"
Katy took a deep, unnecessary breath before explaining...

Just then, Vance stumbled down the stairs and walked into the kitchen. "Thanks for letting me stay and all, but I'm gonna eat something and leave." He grabbed an apple and walked into the drawing room, noticing the new girl. "Sorry for interrupting." He walked back upstairs without another word.

Katy looked wonderingly after the strange boy who'd just walked through. She could tell he wasn't a vampire, so it confused her that he should be staying here with her father. She looked back to Levin.
"Who was that?" she asked him.
Lev only smiled and said; "Why don't you go up and ask him yourself?"
Katy frowned briefly before giving in to her curiosity and ascending the stairs. Once at the top, she stopped and looked around. All the doors in the hall were shut, so she had no idea where to go to find the boy. She walked forward and called out "Hello?" as she went, hoping he would hear her and open his door.

Hearing someone call out, he opened his door and was surprised to see the girl. "You need something?" He asked, staring her dead in the eye.

Katy looked at him for a moment before answering.
"Actually I was just wondering who you are?" she replied simply.

A light knock was heard on the main door. Seeing a person open it, Kai rushed through before the person blinked. He ascended the stairs as well, finally finding Vance. "There you are, dude."

"A free-loader, interloper, rebel, pacifist, all of the above. Why do you ask?" He said with a hint of scrutiny.

Katy nods slightly and turns around, almost walking right into Kai.
"Oh!" she exclaims. "What are you doing here?"

Katy ignored his hand.
"I'm Katy. And what's that look all about?" she said.

"Tch. What a love fest." He pushed past everyone carrying his pack with him. "Thanks for letting me stay." He said to Levin before opening the door and walking out into the frigid morning air.

Katy looked after the boy, whose name she realized she still didn't know, then ran down the stairs. She ignored Lev's questioning calls as she pushed open the door and stepped out.
"Hey where are you going?" she called after the boy from the porch, hoping he heard and turned around.

He looked back at the girl. "Where ever the winds go or which ever way is appealing to me. Why do you ask?"

The vampiress thought for a moment, then smiled to herself.
"Just curious. But you still haven't told me your name." she said.

"They call me Vance. You name, might I ask?" He replied with a slight grin.
